Beatris Bogomilova

About the Artist:

Beatris Bogomilova’s passion for art began when she was 5 years old. At the age of 12, Beatris discovered that her work really did make an impression on others and pursued it more seriously in high school, earning herself the

proficiency art award for her class. She then studied architecture, traveled around the world working in the field, and currently only consults part time, allowing for room to establish her art career.

This is a big leap and your support has been incredibly appreciated.

Beatris enjoys drawing wildlife, landscapes, pet portraits and geometric style art. Hiking and skiing on the West Coast Canadian mountains, walking along dog beaches and catching sunsets are some favourite activites that inspire her work. She also loves to create useful art such as charcuterie boards,

jewelry organizers musical instrument and furniture upgrades and much more.

The Process:

It starts like any form of art, with a vision and a sketch. The difference is that the canvas is not paper or fabric, it is wood. There are many different wood types that can be used but Beatris’s favourites to work on are Ambrisa Maple, English Walnut, Elm and Spruce.

Pyrography, also known as woodburning, is a method of drawing on wood using a heated metal tip. There are different shapes and sizes of the tips that can create various textures. It is a slow process, but also can go from zero to a hundred really quick if you keep the tip on the wood for too long. Mistakes are easy to make, and difficult to ‘erase’, thus the process requires a steady hand, a lot of patience, and extreme attention to detail.

Beatris plans to teach workshops at Lee Valley once the pandemic settles. Keep up with her latest work on all social media platforms.

Elizabeth Nicholls

Elizabeth Nicholls is a Canadian abstract mixed media resin artist, based out of Vancouver B.C. and Muskoka Ontario.

Originally from Ontario, she moved to the West Coast after an inspiring trip to Tofino, B.C. She fell deeply in love with the breathtaking nature the West Coast has to offer.

Elizabeth's passion of nature resonates in her artwork. The fluidity in the resin reflects the fluidity of nature that inspires the artist; much like the volatility of the ocean, or the change of foliage in the forest each year. Elizabeth hopes to capture the unpredictability of nature in her abstract artwork. The fluid resin process ensures uniqueness in each piece.
